The value of effective writing

Sarah will focus on the writing that most of us - and millions of others in the private and public sectors - need to do as a part of our day-to-day work. Countless e-mails, reports, presentations, proposals, memos and letters are written daily to communicate internally, with colleagues and senior management, and externally, with clients, suppliers and the general public. But many of these confuse, bore or irritate their readers and fail to achieve their purpose. Does it really matter? Sarah will discuss the value of effective writing and explore what goes wrong and what communication professionals can do to help.

Sarah Clarke - Speaker biography

Sarah Clark is an independent consultant and trainer specializing in written communication. She is based in Switzerland, partly for professional reasons but also to indulge her passion for the mountains. A former scientific editor and manager of the World Health Organization's publications office in Geneva, Sarah has spent over 20 years helping professionals of many different nationalities to communicate effectively in writing. Her experience includes: internal review of publication policies and processes and related change management; workshop facilitation; development of style guidelines and planning tools for writing and publishing; and training in writing and editing skills.
