Technical Writer, Software Engineering - Google GmbH, Zurich Switzerland.
Technical writers at Google write documentation for internal and external developers, for operational engineers, and for internal applications. Software technical writers in the Zurich office will work on a variety of internal and external projects. Tasks could include writing architectural overviews, developing procedures, writing API references and programming guides, or helping engineering teams write and organize their internal documentation. We seek experienced, talented writers with high technical aptitude, the ability to juggle multiple assignments, excellent writing skills, and organizational ability.

Responsibilities:
- Write software documentation, such as guides, references, technical overviews, and more, for internal and external customers.
- Organize existing documents, identify documentation holes and spearhead efforts to fill them in.
- Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by engineers. Coach engineers on ways to improve their own writing skills.
Preferred experience and skills:
- Ability and inclination to write your own sample code.
- Experience working with web technologies, search engines, and ad systems.
- Experience writing scripts or working with tools to improve the generation of documentation.
- Documentation planning, project management, or leadership experience.
Requirements:
- University degree.
- Experience using fluent English to research and write excellent software documentation.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly develop rapport with engineers.
- Knowledge of modern programming languages, such as Java or C++.
- Knowledge of relevant software topics. Examples include web services, XML APIs, Python, Javascript, web application development, HTTP, databases, and wireless technologies.
This position is for a full-time employee.
